i've been on it one day and i'm already overwhelmed. just to set it up i had to fill out a big questionnaire about my interests, activities, movies, etc. it asked me where i lived, which i thought was a cheap shot. now i'm getting emails from people that want to be my "friend", which is making me anxious. there is some kind of farmplace, and people want me to give them eggs. the whole thing just makes me feel dirty and guilty.
so i'm going back to what i know: a good old blog. like i said, its immediate purpose is for this oregon trip, but i plan to keep it going with random entries once i return. feel free to stop in whenever you want; i'll do my best to share enough of myself to keep it interesting, but not scary.

just testing this new blog so i can keep in touch
ReplyDeletei couldn't agree more....i have never had the desire for anyone or everyone in the free world to be my "friend" or to know my likes and dislikes, hobbies,I don't know that stuff myself...it changes daily...things you should do in Portland:
ReplyDelete1. eat breakfast at the cricket on Belmont in SE
2. go to Mulligan's on Hawthorne and have any kind of liquid refreshment in my honor (if you see my liver will you bring it home for me...it should be somewhere under the Glactica table)
3. Take a drive to Mt. Tabor or Mt. Hood if your feeling lucky.
4. Ride the bus....the system is so freaking user friendly...if it was here I would give up Mable the Sable
5. Sit outside anywhere and people watch for hours...
6. Go to NW and relish in all the shops you wish you had the money to go into
7. Eat sushi.....Salmon from one state up...amazing
8. Walk over any of the bridges...
9. Go listen to jazz in a basement (again I refer you to SE but i am biased)
10. Enjoy yourself and listen to your own soul..make this descion based on you and only you, because when it comes right down to it...your the only one who matters here.
I'm so jealous your going this weekend!! I wish I could come...I could probably fit into a suitcase...The weather looks like it will be nice too. In your blog you will have to explain to the east coast people how to pronounce west coast words...such as Oregon isn't pronounced Or-gone! haha. Have fun and can't wait to hear how it goes!
ReplyDeleteThe weather forecast for this weekend in portland: highs of 60, lows of 41. sunny on friday, becoming partly sunny by sunday.
ReplyDeleteI'm almost upset i won't be experiencing the winter rain.
Don't be upset...you will experience it enough, if you move. I learned today that Bellingham, WA gets 34 inches of rain annually, and Storrs, CT gets 51 inches! So now when people say their usual 'doesn't it rain a lot in WA?'...I have a comeback for it.
ReplyDeleteMake sure you bring me a doughnut. Any variety will do. Don't forget. I've dreamed about going to Portland just to get one. If you can't bring one back- eat one and tell me about it. I'd really like one though....
ReplyDeleteSeriously. =)

I'm glad you don't feel dirty anymore.
ReplyDeleteYour trip is going to be awesome. It's like they took eveything you love and put it into one city! Fantastic. I'm very jealous.
